Create a new project in iMovie

After loading the files into iMovie, we need to create a new project, choose File -> New Project and name it. If your footage is widescreen, ensure you choose the ‘Widescreen (16:9)’ option.

To add music to you movie, just Clich to search your song title. When you find it, just drag it to your project window and drop it in the gray area, the music shows up as a green area behind the project window.

Add sound effect to a movie

To add sound effect, click to go to sound effect browser. It will list hundreds of sound effects of iLife, and you could select a sound effect and press space bar to preview. Then drag the clip over specific video clip until you find the frame which you want the sound to begin play, and release the mouse. To adjust the volume of the sound effect, click once on green to select it, then click "adjust audio" button, and then you can adjust the sound volume and set sound fade in and fade out.

Split Movie Clips in iMovie

Place the cursor beneath the viewing window at the place in the movie where you want to split the clip into two. And right click mouse to choose "Split Clip".

Add Title of movie by iMovie

To add titles to the project by pressing the "‘T"’ button below the Viewer. Now, in the Viewer, double click the text and enter the new Title text. To choose a different font, click "Show Fonts" (top left in the Viewer) to open the OSX fonts menu.
